Testimonials

Blinds
Over 15 years of diligent habitat management and improvement have greatly strengthened the wildlife and bird population on the ranch. The bird blinds are much more than observation points; they are operations of habitat enhancement, providing consistent nutrition and water for the large populations of migrating birds from all directions. We provide twice daily feeding and regular water supply to ponds, via solar-powered wells. Practicing sustainability where possible, each of the blinds are built with recycled, repurposed materials.

Research
Transition Ranch hosts researchers including botanists studying the environments of Dalea sabinalis, entomologists studying Chagas disease, and PhD candidates researching Montezuma Quail. We welcome these researchers to our land and are continually enriched by the knowledge and discoveries they share with us.

Astrophotography
Transition Ranch is an exceptional destination for astrophotography, offering some of the darkest skies remaining in the region — free from light pollution and far from city crowds. The privacy and seclusion of the land means photographers can set up without interruption, taking their time to capture the full brilliance of the night sky at their own pace. With an expansive, unobstructed horizon and near-pristine dark sky conditions, Transition Ranch provides the rare combination of accessibility and solitude that serious astrophotographers and stargazers alike rarely find in a single location.
